Painless Treatment of Tooth Decay

Ošetření zubního kazu

Painless treatment of tooth decay is a standard in our practice. Our goal is to treat cavities at their earliest stages, when intervention is simpler and much gentler on your teeth.

During a dental examination, we use dental X-rays to detect early-stage cavities between the teeth (interdental), hidden cavities (e.g., under existing fillings or below the gum line), and other issues. We also check all existing fillings and, if necessary, replace any that are loose or damaged.

How does tooth decay occur?

Tooth decay primarily results from inadequate oral hygiene and the buildup of dental plaque on the tooth surface. Plaque contains large numbers of bacteria that gradually destroy enamel, leading to cavities. If decay is not detected and treated early, it begins to spread. The goal of treatment is to remove all decayed tooth tissue and restore it — most often using a white composite filling. This prevents complications such as infection of the dental pulp or even the death of the tooth. In advanced cases, root canal treatment may be necessary.

Are You Afraid of “Drilling” or Local Anesthesia?

Do you have a fear of dental drilling or the administration of local anesthesia? Do you suffer from a strong gag reflex? Every invasive procedure at our clinic can be made more comfortable with the use of nitrous oxide or Entonox.

Entonox is an effective and safe non-invasive inhalation analgesic. It acts quickly and wears off rapidly. It provides pain relief along with mild sedative and anti-anxiety effects. The patient remains fully conscious during the procedure, does not need an escort afterward, and can even drive a vehicle 30 minutes after treatment. Entonox is suitable for both adult and pediatric patients.
