Root canal treatment
Root canal cleaning, or endodontic treatment, is the treatment of the root system of a tooth, for example due to inflammation of the dental pulp, infected root canals, but also in the event of injuries.
Endodontics is a specialty of dentistry that deals with the treatment of root canals in teeth. The space inside the hard tissues of each tooth (called the root system) is filled with soft dental pulp, which is made up of nerves and blood vessels. It helps your teeth grow and develop. However, when the nerve of the tooth is infected with bacteria (for example, through deep cavities, cracks or defective fillings), root canal treatment is necessary.
How is endodontic treatment performed?
The treatment is performed painlessly after administering a local anesthetic. To reach the root system, we drill a hole in the tooth and, using special dental instruments, remove the infected pulp and widen and disinfect the root canal system. After cleaning, we hermetically fill the canals with a root canal filling. The hole in the tooth is then closed with a filling.Prvních pár dní po ošetření může být váš zub citlivější. During the treatment, we empty the pulp cavity and root canals of their contents, disinfect the tooth and tightly fill it with a root filling. The purpose of this treatment is to preserve the tooth and restore its function.
Subsequent tooth reconstruction
After root canal treatment, it is necessary to restore the teeth so that they not only look their best, but also fulfill their function. The choice depends on the strength of the "remaining" tooth and its location. For example, teeth in the back of the dentition need to be stronger because they are under a lot of pressure when chewing, etc. We usually choose ceramic crowns or overlays.Prvních pár dní po ošetření může být váš zub citlivější.
